This year was particular.

Things that we used to take for granted are no longer possible.Things we thought we couldn’t do, but now we can.

From January to April

At first, I was planning to hold Rust Tokyo 2020.
But we couldn’t do it, because of COVID-19.
I still remember how frustrated I was.

From May to August

My work style has also changed.
I spent more time managing than writing code.
This situation continues to this day.

I had been spending my days in agony, but then a turning point came.
It was an invitation to organize a Rust Fest Global together!!

From September to November

I joined the meeting for Rust Fest Global once a week.
The meetings were sometimes tricky because of my poor English and time difference. But it was fascinating.

I also started to challenge Nand2Tetris around this time.

I haven’t finished yet, but I want to continue my studies next year.

Rust Fest Global was successfully held on November 7 and 8, and the event ended with great success.

I’m looking forward to meeting the team members in person next year and beyond.

December

I wanted to use Rust at work, so I started studying envoy.

I held a small lightning talk online event.

Florian joined us for the event. He was one of the participants in last year’s Rust Tokyo, and I was delighted to work with him again this year.

I want to develop events that people of all backgrounds can enjoy. It is my homework for the next year.

Conclusion

It was a challenging year for me.

However, it was also a year in which I felt closer to people worldwide than ever before.
Yet, I would like to see everyone.

Have a Happy New Year, everyone.
